Wesley's First Day/Last Day pictures

As a comparison, here are Wes' first day pictures, September 2008

Wesley's last day

Definitely a bittersweet week for Wes. He was so sad to go to school on Monday, held on to me tightly and was depressed all through recess. In the car on the way to school he shared, "Mommy, I'm sad about Rohna. She won't be my teacher any more. I don't want to go to school today."

After school, Rohna shared that he finally perked up, but it did take a while. What really changed his attitude was that it was "Move Up Day" and the kids visited their 4-year-old classroom. Once he was there, she said, he was energetic and excited. In fact, walking out of the room he commented that "the Fours is fun!"

On the way home I asked him about Move Up Day. His comments included:

"Mom, Fours is much fun!"

"Ms. Michelle told us to raise our hands if we like dinosaurs and I raised both my hands!"

So, dinosaurs and a much fun year is expected to begin next fall.

In the meantime, Wesley was awarded a ceritificate of recognition in his classroom today. He is the "best animal guy." He loves the classroom stuffed animals and caring for them, so much so that Rohna gifted him the hamster puppet, Hampton, that "became his everyday at school." No one loved Hampton like Wes did all year. Upon coming to his new home, Wes created a "cage" for Hampton and gave him a cup with pretend water and a toy. He's now our pet.

Today marked Wes' last day of preschool in the Three's. It was a quick day filled with many hugs. Following, he selected Peace A Pizza for lunch.

As is our tradition, I was sure to take a last day pic for our first day/last day album.
